7 Travel Apps That Will Make Your Next Trip Easier
It is amazing to think how technology has impacted all aspects of our lives - travel included. My (disorganized) phone has a huge collection of apps I use to make trips easier - and manage travel plans for both myself and clients. (It also has a huge collection of games to help with my plane ADHD but that is another post!) Here are 7 you want to get if you don’t have them already:
Smart Traveler
This is the official State Department app which allows you to access country information, travel alerts and warnings, and find U.S. embassy locations. It is also a great place to locate entry and visa requirements.
8Fit
I love this fitness app which includes workouts you can do anywhere - in as small of a space as a cruise ship cabin. It is a great way to stay active and moving while on the road. Their 8fit pro also includes meal plans and great yoga and HIIT workouts.
Dayuse
Find yourself with a long layover (or an unexpected one?) This app gives you last minute “day use” hotel rooms so you can spend the time in comfort. You simply choose your location and how long you want to stay at the property and see options with very discounted day rates.
Priority Pass / Lounge Buddy
Everyone knows my love for an airport lounge. Having these apps installed helps you locate the lounge in airports you may not be as familiar with. I love the Priority Pass app which you can use without an internet connection and also allows you to store a digital version of your membership card - one less card you have to carry!
SeatGuru
Most people know about this app and website but, if you don’t, download it immediately. It is a great reference that gives you a seat map for your upcoming route including tips on best and less than ideal seats. You can also read traveler descriptions of the different levels of service.
TripIt
I have tried a lot of trip management apps and still find this to be among the best - especially the Pro version. You can input all aspects of your itinerary and even have it pull confirmations, etc. from emails. It also has a cool feature that allows you to see how far you have traveled and to which places!
Mobile Passport
If you don’t have Global Entry (which you should!), this app helps you expedite your entry process returning from a trip. I have found it especially helpful at cruise ship terminals.
