Summer 2020: The Return of the Road Trip

How many of you remember packing up the car when you were a kid for the much-anticipated summer vacation? Hopping in the back seat with your favorite snacks, some books and games, and ready to test your parents’ patience as you head to your destination. (How did we do this without iPads?) This summer, I think we are going to see a resurgence of the road trip as we look for a change of scenery and plan our holidays. (This time with smartphones in hand.)

Over the past few months, hotels have been preparing to safely welcome guests this season with new cleaning and safety protocols and procedures. East Coast

Cape Cod

If you know me, you know this would be at the top of my list! A short drive from Boston, NYC, Providence, etc., Cape Cod has a variety of wonderful communities to enjoy the beach, kayaking, wonderful food, and more! At the very tip of the Cape sits Provincetown, an eclectic and wonderful community everyone should check out. I work closely with some amazing properties there including Cape Colony Inn which currently has a promotion offering up to 30% off your stay when you book by June 7th. Ogunquit

I love this town which has stunning beaches and some great places to eat. Roost has one of the best brunches I have had anywhere in the world! Maine is set to have a phased reopening of hotels beginning June 1st and this includes one of my favorites, Cliff House Maine in Cape Neddick. The property sits on 70 beautiful wooded, seaside acres and has abundant outdoor activities. Ocean House, Rhode Island

Set to open June 1, this small boutique, luxury hotel has resort-like amenities right on the beach! Beach seating will be configured to allow for social distancing between groups of guests, with groups limited in size. Wine tastings and culinary classes can be enjoyed with a limited amount of guests to allow for social distancing. Outdoor activities (e.g., croquet) are available with an advanced reservation and appropriate social distancing. You will receive special perks when you book through me and, if you stay 3 nights or more in June, you can receive a free night later in the year!

West Coast

Napa

Many of us have indulged in a little more wine than typical during the past few months so this one should come as an easy trip :). It may actually be impossible to find a route in Napa that isn't scenic. In fact, there are 280 miles defined as just that. You can cruise country roads to access world-renown wineries (likely to reopen in early June), historical landmarks, and stunning state parks. For unforgettable panoramic valley views, don't miss driving the Silverado Trail on your way to Carneros Resort and Spa. Situated on 28 picturesque acres in rural Napa Valley, and set to reopen on June 1, this resort features rolling vineyard vistas that stretch as far as the eye can see. Las Vegas

Miss the hustle and bustle of Vegas? There are some incredible deals right now as Nevada moves into Phase 2 of reopening which includes casino resorts resuming operations on June 4th. A variety of other venues will be opening as well with restrictions so you can enjoy gambling, dining, pools, and wellness. The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel

This stunning property opened last week and is the perfect place to enjoy a stay in stylish comfort. The hotel is perched atop a 150-foot bluff featuring cascading views of the Pacific Ocean.
