Gifts for the Traveler in Your Life!

'Tis the season for holiday fun and, along with that, shopping for the perfect gift for the special people in your life. If you get my newsletter, there is a good chance that you are a traveler and have some people in your life that love the adventure of the open road as well. I have put together a list of some great gift ideas for those who have a sense of wanderlust. Of course, nothing is better than an actual vacation and I am here to help you plan that for when you or that someone special is ready to go as well!

Travel Inspiration

I think now, more than ever, gifts that help us remember some amazing destinations or plan for future travels are the perfect option for the traveler in your life. I have had a few nights over the past few months reminiscing about past trips with friends I shared the experience with and it was wonderful. I know many people have used this time to plan and dream of their next adventures - here are a few ideas for those individuals:

Although everything has gone so digital these days, travel journals are still great gifts for those who like to put pen to paper and reflect on their adventures. They are also a handy way to record restaurants, hotels, and attractions visited so you can tell others about them. There are a ton of great options out there at different price points. I use a plain leather one but there is no reason you can't have a little fun with it!

Cookbooks from around the world are also wonderful gifts that help inspire but also bring back a sense of familiarity from past trips. I have friends that went to Thailand last year who have reconnected over Thai cooking classes the past few months - bringing back smiles from their travels. Many hotels also offer cookbooks including their signature drinks and menu offerings. Here is a great list.

3 Travel Essentials

There are a few things I never leave home without - whether I am traveling for a weekend or a month. One item I swear by is the Just In Case® Tote by Tumi. (Pictured above). This durable duffle bag can be condensed into a small pouch and then unzipped into a large dufflebag. It is perfect for dirty clothes, when you shop too much, or for small day trips. It is even durable enough to use as a checked bag.

Noise-canceling headphones are also a lifesaver and a great gift for many situations. Trains, planes, hotels, or when you just want to zone out for a bit. I love the Bose QuietComfort series but there are tons out there - maybe splurge on the new AirPods Max?

Finally, a sturdy and easily-organized Dopp Kit/Toiletry Bag can make all the difference during travels. I like one that can hang which you can find from a ton of manufacturers and one that has a few compartments so you can attempt to be at least a bit organized!

Other Fun Travel-inspired Gifts

Of course, there are thousands of travel-inspired gifts to consider when shopping. Here are a few other websites and options that I think would please any adventurer:

A new travel wallet/passport holder is always appreciated as these get beat up on the road. Although you may be inspired to get the cutest one you can, I recommend keeping them nondescript for safety reasons. Here is a great list.

Uncommon Goods has some of the most unique gifts out there for any occasion - many travel-inspired.

For the sports travelers in your life, consider some new ski goggles, golf balls, or other accessories to add a new element to their next adventure.

Finally, consider purchasing gift certificates to your favorite hotel (and restaurants) this season. The industry has been hit incredibly hard, as you know, and this infusion of money may help small business owners stay afloat until you are able to visit next season.

Have a wonderful holiday!
