How an Alaskan Cruise Will Turn Into Your Favorite Vacation

I have been on a couple Alaskan cruise vacations and it is one trip that I was not sure what to expect going in. Will I be freezing? Will I be bored? Will I want to leave in the middle?

I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The weather was wonderful each time, the scenery was breathtaking, and I was certainly not bored. Each itinerary includes a day at sea where you get up close to the beauty of the region.

Take a look at another pic I snapped during one of these days with some friends:

Now THAT is an instagram photo!

Alaska cruises are really about the excursions and less the ports of call, in my opinion. You can take a helicopter to a glacier and then dog sled down. How many people do you know that have done that? The ports are cute places to wander around, shop, check out salmon, etc. There are also some great places to eat only a few minutes from port in many of the stops.

Tons of ships are going to Alaska this summer (most sailings take place May - September). Leaving out of Seattle is easy and a great place to spend a few days before or after the cruise as well. Pricing currently starts as low as $649 pp (plus taxes and fees) for a 7 night adventure.
